vacancies in the office of United States senator; and providing for an         
effective date was overridden and the engrossed and enrolled copies            
were returned to the Office of the Governor at 1:25 p.m., May 8,               
1998.                                                                          
                                                                               
Senator Taylor moved and asked unanimous consent that the Joint                
Session stand in adjournment.  Without objection, President Miller             
adjourned the Joint Session at 1:19 p.m.
